We believe that getting up in the morning to work to make the world better, to have a positive impact for the common good, and to collaborate with other people who are doing this is a job worth doing and a vision big enough to last a lifetime.
We want to see lots of new projects and businesses and people who are tackling little components of the world’s challenges and making things better. We have a faith based perspective on this, but we don’t believe that the church has a monopoly on good or on solutions and that much that is true and good and beautiful can be found in other faiths and other places and should be valued and celebrated for what it is.
We have a particular focus on Edinburgh, Scotland. It’s where we live, but it’s also an amazing city with a great heritage, an exciting present and phenomenal potential for the future. A city of amazing culture in education, inventions, literature, finance, business, government, art, social care, biotechnology, food, architecture and healthcare, it’s well worth a visit if you have never been.
Creating
We want to see innovative solutions to the big and little questions and problems of the world today. We believe that in creating, we can apply the intelligence we have and tackle age old issues with new technologies, new business models, new words and new attitudes.
Impacting
We believe it’s possible to run around a lot but not get anywhere. We want what we do to benefit others i.e. to have a positive impact on society – in places and systems as well as people. How this is measured and reported will vary from case to case, but if you can’t have impact with what you are doing, and you can’t measure it, how do you know it’s worth doing?
Collaborating
We believe that working on your own has less of an impact than in working with others. We also believe that collaborating on projects is better than in trying to tie up for life. We know the value in support of others when things go badly, and in sharing success with others when things go well.
